The Grand Plaza is a wide-open space that passengers encounter many times throughout the day. To preserve a sense of intimacy, three large screens were envisioned to partially conceal the central lounge while offering intriguing glimpses as guests pass by.
These screens were designed in collaboration with Studio MTX, specialists in architectural embroidery, and are composed of a series of modules made from metal, leather, and fabric. Up close, they resemble intricate jewelry work, with the facets of the materials shimmering in the light and casting subtle reflections throughout the space.
This approach reflects what is referred to as an emotional choreography: anticipating what passengers should feel as they move through the space. The embroidered screens on the Celebrity Edge embody this idea, containing the energy of the area, absorbing some of the noise, and maintaining a degree of visual privacy without closing off the space.
