After two
years of conception and four years of work, the Gare Montparnasse has been
entirely transformed.
This
ambitious redevelopment and modernisation project has been led by SNCF Gares
& Connexions and Altarea Commerce. The design was entrusted to the Jouin
Manku Agency, founded by the architect-designer duo Sanjit Manku and Patrick
Jouin, to AREP, the multidisciplinary architecture agency, a subsidiary of SNCF
Gares & Connexions, and to SLA Architecture, a specialist in industrial and
tertiary sectors. The specifications required for the station to be made more
functional and to respond to the constant increase of users (77 million
visitors per year and 90 million in the future). A station that promotesmobility,
lets the light in, and opens onto the city.
Following a
construction project carried out without interrupting traffic, the station has
been transformed into a new living space, connected to the city and the
neighborhood, completely redesigned to offer more comfort, shops, services and
innovative concepts.
